Today my sweet girl is five and a half. While this may not seem important to some, it is immensely important to Mia. We celebrated tonight with a single layer cake (1/2 a cake) frosted with 1/2 a can of frosting and decorated with cherry halves. We sang the half version of Happy Birthday "Hap Bir T Y, Hap Bir T Y, Hap Bir De M, Hap Bir T Y! No candles, though. Mom didn't feel like cutting them in half. HA! She asked about presents and I politely told her presents were for her "real" birthday!
When the celebration was over, she crawled in my lap and whispered in my ear, "Mom, I can't wait until I'm 5 3/4!"
Why is it when we're a child, all we want to do is grow up? I mean, seriously...what's the hurry? While I do have more control as an adult, I greatly miss the innocence and freedom that comes with being a child. That being said, I wouldn't trade my adulthood. I wouldn't want to give up my sweet kiddos. However, I will indulge in playing with my children, dancing in the snow, stomping in the puddles and anything else childish I can while my children are little. After all, they grow up to fast!
So, go do something childish and enjoy it! I did today!
